Opal is the traditional birthstone for October, and is often referred to as opulent opal for its gorgeous range of colors. Over 90% of the world’s opals come from Australia making it very fitting that the country’s national gemstone is the opal. While opal’s come in a variety of colors, they do share one defining characteristic: they shine and sparkle in a continuously changing display of colors.
