In our experience, brides and fiances often want to be included in the ring selection process. However, if you want to keep the proposal a surprise, there are a couple ways to get the ring size measurement without giving the surprise away.
The easiest and probably quickest way is to ask friends or family members of your significant other if they know the ring size.
Another way is to borrow a ring (for the correct finger of course) belonging to your significant other and then use it to get the measurement. You can easily determine the ring size with our free printable ring size guide.
A last option is to simply guess the ring size. For women, the most common ring size range is between sizes 5 and 7, but size 6 is the most popular size. For men, the most common ring size range is between sizes 8 and 10.5, with size 9 being the most popular size. Keep in mind that if you are guessing the ring size and you’re not sure, you should err on the side of caution and go with a larger ring size. A larger ring size can still fit over the knuckle and can always be resized later.
And don’t forget that if you want to pop the question as a surprise, make sure that you pay attention to the details so you don’t accidently ruin the surprise. For example, make sure you ship the ring to an address where your significant other doesn’t see it first! The same applies to email correspondences and shared bank accounts. Be careful not to accidentally give the surprise away by using a shared email account or by unexplained large expenses.
In any case, when you’re ready, we’re here to help and we’ll be happy to work with you on all of these important details.
