Man’s Best Friend Gets a Custom Dog Tag

So how do you go about creating a custom dog tag for man’s best friend?
Crafting a custom dog tag for the beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer, Tango, was the sweetest Jewelry Journey. The dog tag was inspired by the shape of the cross style called the “Tau Cross,” with similar characteristics to the cross associated with Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. This lovely and meaningful symbol, with its T shape for Tango and the presence of a saint to watch over him, added a special touch to the design.

Pets vs Human Jewelry:
Toying between a white gold or silver dog tag, the latter was chosen to avoid spoiling Tango too much :). From the initial concept sketch to the digital 3D design, seamlessly fitting the engraved detail into the pendant shape was a natural progression.

The final product took shape beautifully, staying true to the initial sketch. However, we realized that our general focus is on human-inspired jewelry, and Tango’s active lifestyle was not fully considered. Which unfortunately led to the attachment link snapping.

The advantage of custom 3D printed jewelry is the ability to make adjustments easily. We added a thicker link to secure the tag to the bail.
