Pendant For Your Own Gemstone
As custom jewelry designers, we’ve seen countless requests to create something truly special for a loved one. Doug came to us with a request for a pendant featuring four gemstones one for his wife, Carol, and one for each of their three sons as a Christmas gift for Carol. What made this project especially inspiring was that Doug had personally cut and faceted each gemstone himself, a process that requires immense patience, skill, and dedication. Done right, this pendant would become one of the most personalized, one-of-a-kind pieces we had ever created.
The Jewelry Journey
Doug wanted a simple yet elegant design that Carol would cherish, while also showcasing the effort he put into cutting the stones. We presented him with several design options, and working closely with our consultant, he quickly finalized the concept: a delicate sterling silver tree framed by a heart, with each of its four branches holding one gemstone. Tricia, our jewelry designer, created a basic sketch to serve as the foundation for the final model.

The Result
Finally, the casting in sterling silver was complete, the gems were set in place, and the pendant was off to its new home in time for Christmas. Shortly after the new year, we were tickled pink when Doug wrote to us to say that Carol hadn’t yet taken it off!
A piece created for a loved one always reflects and represents two people, the wearer and the designer. We took pride in helping him create a pendant that was not only a demonstration of Doug’s dedication and effort in cutting and faceting his own stones, but also a symbol of his love for his wife and sons.
