Michael, a real-life droid builder, has dedicated countless hours to creating full-sized, fully functional robots—machines that truly come to life. But when he reached out to us, he sought something more than just another mechanical creation. He wanted a piece of jewelry that would capture the essence of his passion—something no machine in his workshop could build.

Teaming up with master designer Holly, Michael embarked on a creative journey to turn his vision into wearable art. This collaboration blended Michael’s innovative ideas with Holly’s technical expertise, resulting in a piece that resonated deeply with both his craft and his soul.

Michael’s inspiration came from his deep admiration for R2-D2, the iconic droid from Star Wars. Known for its intricate mechanical design, R2-D2 became the perfect muse. Michael carefully studied the droid’s geometric patterns and mechanical details, laying the groundwork for a ring that would embody the spirit of his work.

Michael’s Concept

To translate his ideas into a tangible form, Michael created a 3D digital sketch. This digital representation allowed Holly to gain a clear understanding of his vision, enabling them to discuss materials, textures, and the overall design approach. The 3D model served as a blueprint, guiding the fabrication process and ensuring that every detail aligned with Michael’s artistic intent.

Guided by Michael’s vision, Holly and the Jewelrythis team thoughtfully brought his ideas to life, transforming them into a stunning piece of wearable jewelry. Every detail was considered—from selecting stones in the right sizes to ensuring their availability. Channels for the enamel inlay were precisely mapped, balancing both form and function to support the intricate enamel work.

After countless hours of craftsmanship and creative collaboration, the design culminated in a beautifully detailed, photo-realistic 3D render. For Michael, it was the first time seeing his dream ring come to life—captured in vivid detail before the final piece is even made.

One of the most rewarding aspects of creating custom jewelry is the opportunity to be involved in every step—including the selection of your own stones. For Michael, this meant choosing five exquisite baguette-shaped blue sapphires that would become a defining element of his design.
