Did you know that March has two Birthstones?

Yes, March has two birthstones and both gems are beautiful, especially when set in an elegant piece of jewelry.
The traditional birthstone is the beautiful aquamarine. Ancient Greek and Roman sailors believed the aquamarine stone would help protect them on their journeys. Its color is light blue or sea-green, hence it’s Latin-based name, which means ‘sea water’.
“A March born shall always be
Soothed by Aqua, gem of sea,
This mermaid’s treasure stone you wear,
Will bring happiness, love, affection and care.”
– Gregorian Birthstone Poem
The other March birthstone is the bloodstone, which is a dark green stone with red specks. This stone has a religious association and is from the quartz family.
“Who in this world of ours their eyes
In March first open shall be wise,
In days of peril firm and brave,
And wear a bloodstone to their grave.”
– Gregorian Birthstone Poem
