The topaz is a semi-precious stone and is a rare silicate mineral. Because it has a good hardness and comes in a variety of beautiful colors such as golden yellow, blue, pink, red and more, it is an ideal gem for jewelry. Its value is mostly affected by its color, although clarity and size are relevant too. Topaz is different from citrine, which is a quartz and often misidentified as Topaz. With a Mohs hardness of 8, Topaz is also harder than citrine, which has a hardness of 7.
