As its name suggests, tanzanite is found only in Tanzania and is so rare it is only found in a specific region of Tanzania – near Mount Kilimanjaro. Its coloring is exotic ranging from lush blue to deep violets and rich purples. Tanzanite is a trichoic stone so it reflects different colors. It has been described as a geological phenomenon and is 1,000 times rarer than diamonds. It is one of the most valuable and sought-after gems today.
