Platinum is a naturally occurring white metal used for automobiles, electronics and jewelry. When used for jewelry, it is typically used in a near pure form ranging from 95%-98% purity. Platinum is almost identical looking to white gold, but it is rarer and much heavier than gold. It is also harder than gold so it can be used in a purer form than gold, which is too soft to use in its pure form.
