Micro-pavé is a type of pavé setting with pavé-set diamonds that uses very small, uniformly-shaped (typically less than 0.01 carat) diamonds. The diamonds sit very closely together and are secured via very small prongs. When pavé settings are used to accentuate the main stone, they create shimmer and sparkle and can make the center stone look larger than it actually is. The term ‘micro’ refers to the microscope that jewelers must use to cut and place the stones.
