In a halo setting, a ring of small accent stones, usually round pavè or micro-pavè faceted gemstones, encircle a larger center gemstone. The halo setting can be formed in the same shape as the center stone or in a different shape such as a cushion-cut halo setting around a round gemstone. The effect of the halo setting is to make the center stone appear larger and more sparkly. It is one of the most popular engagement ring settings.
