The half-bezel setting is the same as a full bezel setting, except that it doesn’t surround the entire girdle or waist of the gemstone. Instead, it leaves the sides of the bezel open, so that only parts of the gemstone are encircled. The benefit of a half-bezel setting is that the gemstone is more visible, which can make it appear larger. Half-bezel settings are also called a partial or semi-bezel setting.
