Diamonds are composed of pure carbon and are a rare and naturally occurring mineral that are formed deep within the earth’s crust where intense heat and pressure cause the carbon atoms to crystallize. They are brought to the earth’s surface via deep-source volcanic eruptions. The unique way in which their carbon atoms bond is what makes them so beautiful. Natural diamonds and lab-grown or synthetic diamonds are both considered genuine diamonds, but they formed differently. Feel free to read our article on natural and synthetic diamonds to learn more about these differences.
