Cobalt, a bluish-white, hard and lustrous metal, has become a popular alternative metal for jewelry today. It’s especially popular in men’s wedding bands as it looks very similar to white gold, has high luster, is extremely durable, and is relatively affordable compared to precious metals. In its pure form, cobalt cannot be used in jewelry, so it is alloyed with other metals to make it stronger. Cobalt has also been used in medical implants and by the dental industry for years.
