Citrine, one of two November birthstones, is the yellow variety of quartz and ranges in color from pale to medium to deep shades of golden yellow, with some having a dark reddish-orange or reddish-brown hue. The more intense the color, such as saturated yellows, oranges and reddish tones, the more valuable the stone. Because citrine is relatively abundant, like all quartz gems, it is available in a wide range of sizes and shapes. This versatility is one of the reasons for citrine’s growing popularity in jewelry design.
