Jewelry casting is the next step in the jewelry production process after the design stage. The casting process creates a wax pattern that is made into a jewelry mold which is filled with a molten metal to create the jewelry piece. This process is also known as lost wax casting because the wax is “lost” during the process of making the jewelry. 3D jewelry design augments this process because jewelry designers no longer have to hand-carve the original pattern in wax. Instead, it can be 3D printed.
