One of the four precious gemstones, the sapphire is a variety of the mineral corundum. Although they come in a variety of colors, such as green, pink, purple, white, and yellow, sapphires are mostly known for their striking blue color. Generally, the more uniform and intense the color, the more valuable the sapphire. Sapphires are highly valued because of their excellent color, durability, hardness, and luster. The most valuable Sapphire color is cornflower blue aka Kashmir Sapphire.
