Morganite is a variety of beryl that shows a range of pink and peach colors due to traces of manganese. Unlike other beryl, morganite does not usually occur in large sizes. It is a semi-precious stone. Morganite was discovered in Madagascar in 1910 and was named after American financier J.P. Morgan when Tiffany & Co. introduced it to the American market. Morganite is a semi-precious stone and is also known as pink beryl.
