As a jewelry term, brilliance refers to the amount and intensity of light reflecting in the interior of a diamond or gemstone, or its white light return. Along with “fire” and “luster”, “brilliance” is one of three jewelry terms that describe a stone’s appearance and how it reflects light. A stone’s brilliance is the foundation of its brightness and sparkle. Gemstones with the greatest brilliance include moissanite, diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds.
