Also called an ankle chain or ankle bracelet, an anklet is an ornament worn around the ankle. Precious metals, leather, beads, etc., are used to create anklets, and some have precious or semi-precious gemstones or charms. Ankles can be worn on either leg and stacked with other anklets. When worn, they create the impression of a longer and slimmer ankle. The word itself is a portmanteau of ‘ankle’ and ‘bracelet’.
